If you're reading this, congratulations. More than likely you've moved on to the next round of your league's playoffs. And if you are, you probably won in a nailbiter, unless your opponent had all the egg-layers. As we move into the next round, the competition may be getting a little stiffer. Injuries and weather are becoming serious concerns. So for our Monday article here, rather than going back to recap the Sunday matchups, we'll take a peek ahead at some players that will be risk/reward picks for Week 15. Just the kind of guys you may need to look to in order to squeak by.
Tyrod Taylor (vs. CLE): Taylor hasn't been fantastic but you gotta like the matchup against Cleveland. Watch the weather reports though.
Colin Kaepernick (@ATL): The Niner QB has cooled significantly since his mid-season outburst. But the matchup in Atlanta is cherry and there'll be no weather issues.
Alex Smith (vs. TEN): Another weather-dependent matchup, but all signs point to Smith putting up decent numbers this week against the Titans. Smith has a very high floor but the upside is more limited than Kaepernick's or Taylor's.
Todd Gurley (@SEA): You'd think this would be a tough matchup but the Seahawks give up nearly 23 ppg to RBs this season. The Rams have had the Hawks' number the past couple of years and would love to play spoiler. Gurley finally looked somewhat decent this past Sunday and could continue the trend in trying to upset their NFC West rivals.
Jonathan Stewart (@WAS): J-Stew got his second-highest number of carries all season and scored his fourth TD in as many games against the Bolts on Sunday. This week, a much easier task against the Redskins, who rank in the 20's in terms of giving up fantasy points to RBs. Doesn't look like weather will be a factor but you never know when Stewart yields carries to other backs or to Cam Newton. We expect 20+ touches and a score.
Tevin Coleman (vs. SFO): Big game for Coleman against the Rams, despite only touching the ball 10 times. The Niners come to town, sporting the 2nd-worst rush D in the league. Running mate Devonta Freeman - who had a terrible Week 14 - may bounce back too but Coleman should continue producing too.
Rishard Matthews (@KCC): Don't let the down week fool you. TE Delanie Walker led the Titans in receiving Sunday with 2 catches for 30 yards. Whaaaaaaaat? Matthews should find success against the aggressive Chief secondary, who gives up 41+ points per game to WRs.
Adam Humphries (@DAL): Check Humphries' status mid-week due to his concussion keeping him out Week 14, but if he's back, he will be a great PPR play against Dallas. The Cowboys' D will focus on Mike Evans and TE Cameron Brate, allowing Humphries to run wild in the flats.
Mike Wallace (vs. PHI): Wallace has been fairly steady the past month or so, and after watching what DeSean Jackson just did to Philly, we're thinking Wallace will have a chance to burn an Eagle DB deep. Just a hunch and he's a gamble for sure, but at minimum we think 10 ppr points is the floor.
