Let's change things up a bit this week and look at a DraftKings lineup. And specifically, the kind of lineup that will not only be quite unique but utilizes a couple of interesting strategies. Both are derived from using Vegas odds to build your lineup. First, we will build our "passing attack" from the three matchups with the highest over/unders (translates into best QB/WR production). And we will build our defense, kicking and run game from the three lowest, assuming these will produce the best stats in categories akin to DEF and RB. And to test this strategy out, and to best utilize the "unique" factor, we'll enter into the $1 entry, $60K First Down contest.
The three contests we will pull from are the GBP/ATL tilt (o/u 52, highest of the week), the OAK/TBB game (49.5) and the KCC/IND matchup (also 49.5).
Quarterback: By far the best value of the six available QBs is going to be Jameis Winston ($5,700). The Raiders give up the 5th-most fantasy points in DK scoring.
Wide Receiver: Knowing that we already love Russell Shepard, we are definitely plugging him in since he's a mere $3,300. This allows us to double-dip and not care that Mike Evans is costing us $8,100. Since we have relative values at QB and one of our WRs, we feel OK plugging in T.Y. Hilton despite his $7,900 price tag. The Chiefs give up the 2nd-most fantasy points to WRs. YES!
Tight End: We gave thought to plugging in the Colts' Jack Doyle, but the Chiefs - for all their faults in defending the pass - have given up the 5th-fewest fantasy points to TEs. Instead, we'll go the other way and plug Travis Kelce ($4,900) in. The Colts can't defend the opposing TE.
RUNNING / DEFENSE
Looking at the more "defensive battles" of the week, we see three that stand out: NYJ/CLE, PHI/DAL and SDC/DEN. Going to pick our RBs and DEF from this group.
Running Back: As badly as we want to use Zeke Elliott here, we will instead spend $800 less on Matt Forte ($6,400) against the swiss cheese Cleveland run D. And going back to our DFS article yesterday, we know that Denver's Devontae Booker ($3,700) is a great bargain in his first start against a terrible rush D.
Defense: Whoever is starting for the Browns at QB is going to see a ton of blitzes from the New York Jets' defense. We like the Jets D at $3,400, and this leaves us $6,600 for a flex pick.
Flex: Going to stick with a player that should be involved in a higher-scoring affair, but could also be used if his team happens to be up early. That is Jacquizz Rodgers ($5,800), who has been tearing up bad rush Ds for the past couple of weeks.
